After a decade of immersive living in Belize, I’ve transitioned from simply navigating a new culture to actively shaping its community landscape. My initiatives include conceiving and executing the successful two-year run of the Chef Sean Kuylen events, hosting key eSkillz executives while in Belize, and organizing aweek-long Paradise Neighbors event that united global property owners. I'm especially proud of the work that empowers others, partnering with two local women dive masters to secure resources and successfully facilitate the SCUBA certification training for four children, turning an important community vision into a reality.

I asked Sean if he would bring his crew, all his Belizean cooking expertise and do a tasting for all of us living in Sanctuary Belize on Christmas eve. It went so well, we did it two years in a row.

The event was held in a gorgeous home overlooking Sapodilla Lagoon. The owners had a perfect kitchen for them to spread out and all of us to eat and drink. I love hosting these events.

I remember eating everything he served. The evening lasted at least five hours and there were 40 guests. All of us living there at the time. The cost was 30.00 USD per person for the evening.

These kids were on cloud nine, to be given a chance to get SCUBA Certified for free. It opened up a whole new world for them. I organized this event with sponsoring and finding the money to make it happen.

These two ladies are dive masters and did all the training. They were two of my good buddies while living in Belize. Just awesome women that taught me a lot about Belize and diving and the rich culture. Great partnering.

Graduation. I heard one of these gentlemen loved it so much he is pursuing a career in Marine Biology. A superb endeavor.

Living in Belize, I was inspired by the country's rich culture and the talent of its local artists. In 2020, while at Sanctuary Belize, I saw the potential for a large-scale event that would celebrate this creativity. My experience attending art events in California, like the Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Festival, gave me the vision for an annual art show in Belize. I was so passionate about the idea that I flew to Belize City and pitched it directly to the President of Belize Tourism, along with the concept for an annual boat show. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we were set to move forward. The Website I built to showcase this whole endeavor was made only as a mind mapping tool just to get the idea out there. Quick and dirty. After the first successful year, I would have changed it into a beautiful website that would last for years to come and the beautiful expansion of this annual event. So many great ideas in Belize to set goals and see happen.
To get my ideas in front of the community at Sanctuary Belize, including neighbors, stakeholders, and investors, I created a placeholder website. The site wasn't designed to be fancy; its purpose was to be a simple, shareable platform to outline my vision. This allowed the concept to quickly circulate to hundreds of people, including a global audience of artists and investors. It was a work in progress as questions were answered and more rose from feedback. Scratch paper via the web.

This weeklong event took me a month to organize, collect money, secure Captains for boats, bartenders, food, cars, and all-around helpers.

Gala had the BEST smile. He helped our SCUBA divers and folks who wanted to go fishing or snorkeling. A boat jockey. Family.

Posing in the daily wear of the weeklong event. Horseback riding, hiking the falls, dirt bikes, fishing, parties. It was so successful, I did it another year too.

Forty visiting neighbors on board and ready to spend a whole day on our private Sanctuary Belize island. I love our flag flying off this Belizean boat.

How could you not smile at Sanctuary Belize for a week. Huge success. They begged for another year, which I did.

George our bartender and the Caribbean Sea. He made fresh coconut drinks by scaling a tree in his bare feet and knocking down coconuts.

My two wonderful bosses from eSkillz, Don Cole and Melissa Guerra. It is because of their vision; I was able to move and work remotely from Belize. They had me head up hiring of Belizean talent for the company and came to us for a week of hanging out, team building and reviews. I arranged all events while they were there.
